6 steps for successful affiliate marketing

Filed Under (Affiliate Newbies) by Luis Tee on 21-05-2008

Internet business is one of the types of business that you would want yourself to get involve with. You can start internet business with just a laptop and a wireless connection. 90% of the world population is poor, with 10% of the people controlling the wealth of most of the people of the world. Same goes to cyber population, where about 10% of the internet marketer is reaping profit from 90% of the internet users. It is a huge margin you can get out of this business, all you need is some passion and the spirit of NEVER GIVE UP (That’s what most of the successful internet marketer told me)The question is should you look for a product to sell (regardless of your interest) or should you sell your interest?

The answer to me is to sell interest. Internet business is a long journey to wealth (though some said can make it very short time, which most of the people not able to do that), the dream of getting rich fast will usually turn off an enthusiastic internet marketer really fast. Especially when they later find out that they could not make money as fast as what has been told.

My name is Luis Tee, and I am making my way in the internet business. I started off working as design engineer, getting myself involved in MLM in my early days, then property agent(make a couple of thousands but later find out that is not my interest). Before I get into this business, many people told me that we can make fast money in internet business. From my experience, I think not quite possible. If you are thinking of making a lot of money in a short time, you will get disappointed yourself really fast.

The secret to success in the internet is to continue doing what you do, consistently and systematically. I applied this principle for the past two months and it really works on me.

Let me tell you this, I started off my blog last month, with just 4 unique visitors for the first one week. I started to write articles seriously and began to attract interest from my readers. I ended my first month with 192 unique visitors.

This month is second month, I am currently at 220 unique visitors in just half a month. It is growing fast  and I have over thousands of visits from my visitor groups.

People all told me that there are intense and great competition in the internet business, especially in the affiliate marketing. But I don’t think that’s the case. It is a race against passion and interest, if you have the interest, you will find yourself going ahead of others in a long run. It is a marathon, not a 100m speed run. There are few steps that we need to learn in the internet business, taught by many Gurus:

Step 1. Find a niche market.

Find a niche market, that has great potential with less competition.

Step 2. Find a solution or product for that niche market.

Find a solution or product for that niche market, find it in the clickbank or other affiliate website. Go to forum, website, research site or any other channels to find out what people are looking for in that niche market.

Step 3. Setup your website

Setup a website targeted to that niche market. Fill the website with powerful content.

Step 4. Create an opt-in page to collect email address

You have to capture your visitors by their email and first name, so that you could continue to communicate to them and hopefully sell something to them.

Step 5. Create your own product for that niche market.

Create your own product/solution. The best product to sell is to have your own product. Try to create something that’s really useful and bring benefits to its’ readers/buyers.

Step 6. Have a great sales copy and start selling.

Sales copy is your sales man online, and it works 24 hours 7 days a year. You want to create the most interesting and attractive sales copy so that you could pull as many buyers as possible.

I am not in the position to comment further on the effectiveness, I have created some products which I am good at doing and I am starting to follow those steps as stated above. I will update you on the progress.

Pay per sale, pay per lead and Pay per post

Filed Under (Affiliate Newbies) by Luis Tee on 05-05-2008

Hi again, Let’s continue yesterday discussion:Pay per sale, the most common method in affiliate marketing where affiliate marketers get paid with every successful purchase from the visitors. Generally the commission is quite high, for example clickbank.com products can offer up to 70% of commission out of the products. This is also the highest commission paid among all 4 methods of commission structure.

Pay per lead, the “lead” actually refers to “Sign Up”, which is a number of person sign up to the merchant website. In affiliate marketing, it is very important to get the contact information from the visitors. Contact information such as name, address and most importantly email are the channels to establish relationship with the visitors. This is the channel where the merchants or affiliate could go through to promote their products. However, the commission paid on pay per lead is relatively low.

Pay per post structure generally pays their affiliates to write review on products or services for the advertisers. You may refer to the top right corner of this website for http://www.smorty.com/ or http://www.pay2u.com/, affiliate will get money for their writings. Mostly this is common among bloggers. Blogs that are not indexed, have little or no content, are banned from search engines or contain hate related and crude content may be rejected or put on Probation until corrected. You can get paid up to $5 or a lot more with quality reviews.

All these commission structures are designed to suit different market demand. It is for you to discover which one suits you better, and which one could lead you to road of prosperity.

Hope this helps,

To your pursuit of happyness

How Affiliate Marketing Work?

Filed Under (Affiliate Newbies) by Luis Tee on 27-04-2008

 How Affiliate Marketing Work?

Affiliate marketer makes money through commission they earn referring sales to the merchant’s online store. Simply put, affiliate marketing is a process of earning commission selling other products on the internet. There are three type of commission in the world of affiliate marketing:

  • a. Pay per sale- commission based on sales amount
  • b. Pay per click - commission based on number of visits
  • c. Pay per lead - base on registration through downloads.

Both the merchant and affiliate marketer benefited from such process. There is nothing to lose on merchant side as they enjoy free advertising from affiliate marketers; all they have to do is to share their profit with affiliate marketer. In fact, most of the merchants give high commission to the affiliate marketers to motivate them to drive more traffic to their sites.

There is nothing to lose on affiliate marketers, they don’t have to worry about customer service, delivery, maintenance, product enquiries, or management as they are all being handled by the merchant. In short, they sole effort is to drive more traffic to the merchant website, and if someone buy the product, they get the commission. Sometimes, the sales commission they earned is higher than the profit that the merchant get.

It is a win -win business strategy that benefited both merchant and affiliate marketers.

Introductory to Affiliate Marketing

Filed Under (Affiliate Newbies) by Luis Tee on 19-04-2008

Hey everybody, today I want to talk about affiliate marketing, Affiliate marketing is probably the most common way to make money online.

Let you support a product, let say you support dreamweaver, you created a site, let say something to do with dreamweaver, you put a link on your site, let say somebody click on it  and purchase, you will get pay a certain percent of commission, the commission will depends on what program you are using and all that kind of stuff.

Today I am going to show you 4 sites that have affiliate programs. There is tons more out there, but today I am going to show you four of them. The first one is probably the most well known, which is the “Clickbank”.

Clickbank is a site where you can promote of ebooks on. Select let say I want to promote Ewen chia super affiliate, all I have to do is to create a hoplink, copy the html that I want and paste on my website and that’s it. Anytime that somebody click on that site, I will get pay 23.37 cent, you can get up 30,60 or 100 dollars with this. It is really a great site, and it is free. All the site I m going to show you is free to join, this is really a great affiliate site, this is the one that I used and probably the best one.

The second one is the one that I don’t use but I heard good things about is probably the Commision Junction. I don’t whole about this, I don’t really know what it sells, but if you don’t like Clickbank you can check out Commission Junction. And I heard it is a good site, so you can check out the marketplace and stuff like that.

The 3rd one is Apple, Itunes, if you want to promote Itunes, if you have website or blog on music(reviewing music), you can join the ITunes affiliate and earn some money, collect some cash from it, it is kind of cool affiliate because once you put the link on your site and that’s it, you don’t have to put a whole attention to it, only you to get the traffic so that people can link and buy.

The last program is Adobe, I don’t do it but I would highly highly recommend this one because you can earn up to 10% commission, which is great on Adobe products because some of the Adobe products are pretty expensive. I am not saying they are bad products, but they are really good quality products. Like I say Dreamweaver, ColdFusion and tons of great programs for design, photoshops and all that kind of stuffs. So if you have a website or may you have a website on photography or maybe you have website on webpage, you join this affiliate and you can put some links on your page, and if somebody clicks on it and buy it, you can get 20 or 30 bucks or higher. If you get 65K more of a month, if you get 10%, which is 6,500 dollars which is more than some other people , the people that I know make in a month.

So affiliate is really a great way to earn money online, one thing I want to say before I go is make sure if you do affiliate marketing, you don’t get it over your head, I tried that, I tried joining 4-5 affiliate program and that just kind of not working, you just get too much money sources but you are not going to make as much money. I would suggest finding one maybe two at most in Adobe, or maybe Clickbank, I would also check out Commission Junction, I heard good things about it.  Become affiliate and starts marketing today.

Message from Anonymous Marketer

Lesson Learnt:
1. Do not promote too many products at one time, promote one or the most two products in one website.
